Northeast Student Council is hosting their third annual Rock-A-Wish event this Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the LNE commons to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Make-A-Wish is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers and donors to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Our Student Council is trying to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation so we can help grant someone’s wish too. Our Student Council president, Emma Davis, was actually a wish kid when she was younger after being diagnosed with leukemia, so it would be a very fulfilling experience for her and the rest of our council to raise as much money as possible for such a special cause. Last year at Rock-A-Wish we raised over two thousand dollars for Make-A-Wish, which was over three times as much as we raised the year before. Our goal for this year is to raise one thousand more than we raised last year.
Local artists and bands such as Jaydn Keller and Company 33 will be performing throughout the evening for the guests. A Make-A-Wish wish kid, Cayden, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor and wished to be a pop star, will also be performing in the event. The cost is five dollars per person to get into the event. There will be a bake sale and a silent auction with various items to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. All of the proceeds will go directly to Make-A-Wish.
