Northeast Student Council is hosting their third blood drive of the year on Tuesday, February 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the LNE center gym to raise units of blood for the blood bank of Lincoln. Student Council has been hosting this event for the last few years and has been quite successful in the process. Their goal for each blood drive is to raise at least 50 units of blood for the blood bank. Throughout the previous two blood drives held this year, they have achieved this goal and surpassed it both times, earning more units of blood than the desired amount. This is a huge success, not only for the blood bank, but for the people whose lives are being saved.
Everyone in the community is allowed to donate blood at this event, including students, teachers and parents. The only restrictions for the blood drive are that the people who donate have to be at least seventeen years of age and weigh at least 115 pounds. After donating, the contributors of the blood are provided with t shirts, along with various types of cookies and juices. For high school students, parent permission forms are provided in the LNE main office. To be eligible to donate, students are required to have the form filled out and handed in to the office before they are allowed to give blood. To anyone who may be interested, please come to the blood drive on February 9 to help support a great cause and save some lives!
