This year’s spring play is approaching.
The spring play, a Sherlock Holmes mystery, will debut on March 1 through March 4. Holmes needs to collect letters, and if he doesn’t, it could ruin a man and his family. 45 students auditioned, 24 were selected. English teacher and theater instructor Mr. Bruce Chapman is in his 31st year at LNE.
“Theatre is just like a sport. Kids always come back for more the next year. The only difference is theatre is year long.”
Senior Tenaj Jones is in the spring play for another year. Jones says she is not nervous for this year’s school play since she has been acting for 13 years. Jones started at the age of 4 at places like the Lincoln Community Playhouse and the Haymarket Theatre. Jones said she is highly interested in the arts but will not pursue it in college.
Senior Nathaniel Root, has been in the spring play for three years now. Root says theatre is the only activity he’s really interesting in. Root says he will be minoring in theatre. When Root was asked if he was nervous for the play, he stated, “he was, but wasn’t. No because I have done 11 plays so far, one in middle school and 10 at Northeast, so I have gotten used to performances. Although I have done multiple plays, I still get a tingly feeling out of minor anxiety.”
The theatre students have been working hard. Soon, their hard work will pay off.
