For a while now, ISIS has been recruiting teens on social networks, wanting them to join the organization, due to a widespread increase in the use of technology by young adults. As a result of this, Twitter is actively combatting to ISIS recruiting young teens on social networks. They have immensely ramped up their anti-ISIS efforts by shutting down over 125,000 accounts in the last seven months that have been reported for terroristic and radical activity. “Most of the people behind these terrorist accounts are said to be affiliated with or supported ISIS,” Twitter said.
The company has also added more staff to help monitor any terrorist and/or radical activity going on within the network. ISIS has successfully been using Twitter as a recruiting ground for young teens, luring people in to join and support their cause. But Twitter is now adding their own weapons to stop these activities in the network. They use spam-fighting software to seek out terrorist accounts, along with using law enforcement and various online organizations to seek out ISIS’ recruiting efforts.
