Fast food lovers across the nation went crazy over the fact that McDonald’s added mozzarella sticks and a full day breakfast option to their menu in 2015. This year other fast food restaurants are planning to update their menus as well.
Early last week Burger King made an announcement of a new item that will be available nationwide. Burger King will soon offer hot dogs, specifically a classic hot dog, a chili cheese dog and a grilled dog that will be available February 23.
“We’re worked to bring guests a hot dog that tastes like backyard barbeque,” says Alex Macedo who leads the company’s unit in North America. Macedo states that they started to test out hot dogs in five major cities. With profits rising above their expectations, Burger King plans to make the hot dogs a menu item all over the U.S.
Now, directly competing with Sonic’s hot dogs, Burger King representatives say they are not worried. They state they are confident in their sales versus Sonics for the simple fact that they grill their hot dogs instead of boil them as Sonic does.
Taco Bell has also released a new menu item recently. The Quesalupa is now being served. The name Quesalupa was thought of by combining the Spanish word for cheese, queso, and the end of the word Chalupa; -lupa. The word chalupa was chosen because it is a standard chalupa except with cheese added to the inside of the shell.
It is only February in 2016 and fast food joints are hastily adding to their menus. Maybe by December, America will be as unhealthy as ever.
