It is now that time of the year again. The leaves are turning colors, and they fall to the ground. Seasonal holidays are near, but there are other things to get pumped about. Yes, that is right– upcoming releases of new video games and consoles. With a lot of updated technology and games soon to come this fall, it is a good thing to know what items are worth burning a hole in your already-worn-out pockets. There is one release in particular that has caught the attention of many. That would be the new PS4 Pro, going up head to head against Xbox One’s newer console, “Xbox One S”.
Now, a lot of people think the PS4 Pro is a whole new console, maybe a later generation console. But this is not the case. You can tell this even based on the name. If the Playstation 4 Pro was a brand new generation, it wouldn’t continue to hold the title of “Playstation 4”. It’s a bit of common sense, but hey, you can’t blame your fellow gamers for getting a little too excited, right?
This console will support full 4k gaming, unlike the standard PS4. It will also support HDR (HIgh Dynamic Range) video and gaming, which gives the users a more detailed viewing of the movies or games they play. The PS4 Pro will require a compatible TV that supports HDR in order to have that feature (same circumstance with 4K gaming).
If you’re someone who really appreciates the art of high quality gaming, this is a perfect match for you. Sony has already stated that some developers have been working on HDR and PS4 Pro updates for the games that have already been released. Despite what you may have heard, it won’t make all PS4 games look better. The quality of each individual game on the PS4 Pro compared to the standard PS4 will depend on the types of upgrades the developers put out on the table for each individual game. In other words, the in-game differences between the standard PS4 and the PS4 Pro will vary with each game.
Now you still may be on the fence about whether it is worth getting or not and that is alright. For each person, the importance of getting this updated version of the PS4 will vary.
For those of you who already own a PS4, making the purchase of a PS4 Pro will come at a bigger price. This is because all of your video games will still be playable on the older console. But for some people, especially those of you who own a 4K HDR TV, this purchase may actually be worth it.
If you don’t currently own a PS4, this purchase wouldn’t be worthless. It is only about $50 more than a standard 1TB Ps4.
Upgrading to a PS4 Pro will insure that you get the best version of future games. And as mentioned earlier, it could also mean you will get improved graphics on games you already have (that is if the developers choose to make an update on the quality of the game).
If you are the type of person who doesn’t care for 4K or HDR, then the main advantage of the PS4 Pro over the original PS4 would be potential quality of games. This is, if the developers decide to make their games look nicer.
With all the new games coming out for 2017, it might be worth your money to obtain a Playstation 4 Pro for a starting price of $399 when it releases on November 10. After getting to know the benefits of the PS4 Pro, it may be a bit easier to decide if it is worth buying, or if you’re better off waiting until another generation of this console comes out.
