Violence and crimes against celebrities have been happening for a long time. It is something that has been brought to light lately with the Kim Kardashian robbery in Paris, but that is one of many crimes directed towards a celebrity.
According to Rant Hollywood, in 1969 Cindy Birdsong and two friends came home to a kidnapper waiting for her in her apartment. Using a knife to get her to comply, he made her tie up her two friends, then he forced her down to her car and forced her into it. She later was able to open the car door and escape.
Rant Hollywood also says that while coming home from a New York bar, Gavin Degraw, singer songwriter, was assaulted by a group of men. After the assault, he was hit by a taxi.
Pop culture website PopCrunch says that sports interviewer and Dancing With the Stars participant, Erin Andrews, has had many stalkers who have sent her death threats. PopCrunch states “in 2008, Andrews was stalked by a man who followed her for weeks, eventually recording nude videos of the gorgeous reporter with his cell phone while spying through the peephole into her hotel room.”
Another Dancing With the Stars participant, Shawn Johnson, had a stalker that attempted to take action. He jumped a fence at the studio where the show is filmed. He had multiple rolls of duct tape, a loaded gun, and many love letters written to Shawn in his car. This helped her get a restraining order against him.
Most recently was the Kim Kardashian Robbery in Paris. Men broke into the apartment she was staying in and tied her up in the bathroom. They stole her newly upgraded wedding ring and many other pieces of jewelry the value of which is estimated at 10 million. They also stole her iPhone.
While no one was harmed in any of these instances, many other violent acts have been taken against celebrities. With how violence is increasing around the world, violence and crime against celebrities will most likely continue.
