We want your editorials for Teen Voices!
December 3, 2019
Dear LPS Students,
Teen Voices is an ongoing partnership between the Lincoln Journal Star and Lincoln Public Schools that allows students to share the teen perspective on important issues. Our media abounds with the adult perspective which is why this opportunity is essential. Teen perspectives matter and will be the leading force behind change in the future of the community and the nation.
This year, we are accepting submissions on the following topics:
- What would you like to change about your city, school, state, etc., and why?
- What misperception about your generation do you want to change or challenge?
- How has your life story prepared you for the dreams you hope to achieve?
- What is the greatest future challenge facing you and your classmates?
- What could adults learn from today’s teenagers?
We will be accepting submissions on all five topics from all of our high schools and Focus Programs. A committee will select from submissions by topic and will then work with students to make any needed revisions prior to submission to the Lincoln Journal Star. Parent/Guardian permission will be needed in order for your photo and editorial to be included in the Teen Voices project. There is no word limit imposed on your editorial. The deadline for submissions is January 10, 2020.
Please send submissions and any questions to Mindy Murphy, Secondary ELA Curriculum Specialist, at [email protected].
