Have you noticed the cameras in every hall way? Almost every kid has their phone in their hand in the lunchroom and hallway. When you walk in the front door, the security has to open the door for you. Instead of planners we have hall passes. Or the fact that no matter where you look in the hallways or lunchroom you see a student with a phone. Let’s just say, when I was a freshman in 2012 everything was different!
When I was a freshman there was no such thing as a bathroom pass. We had planners with passes in the back that a teacher had to sign just for you to leave, and students were only allowed so many a semester. I never had to worry about being recorded just for walking in the hallway. Never would have I thought during my senior year, Northeast would have video cameras. As a kid we always dreamed of having computers to ourselves for school. Well I guess that dream came true! But they’re definitely more difficult to use than what us students thought it would be. Could you imagine walking into Northeast without having a security guard push a button before you could walk in. it’s crazy how much LNE has changed since 2012. The security has become a lot better. North east now feels a lot safer.
Three years ago, I walked into Northeast for the first time! I remember walking in for my freshman year with no security check at the front doors. No cameras scanning my face. We had IDs, but not ones that the administrators can scan and see what class you’re in. There was no such thing as a color coded bathrooms and color coded floors. The craziest part of it all was we used to have these paperback planners that would fall apart in a week, and we would just rip the pass papers out and keep those. But now we have this little laminated paper connected to a lanyard. You have to stay on the same floor of your classroom to. The security will know if you’re on the wrong floor because your pass is the same color as the floors color. I remember when there was a no tolerance on electronic devices at school. Now they gave us computers to use 4 years later, and we can walk around with our headphones in our ears with no problem. Northeast has changed a lot over the years. The school has become more advanced in technology and safety. I actually like that I feel safer I this school, and I feel that I’m getting a good education.
